Several of the community initiatives at this station were developed after visiting European and Scandinavian Railways on a “Churchill Travelling Fellowship”. Ged Austin, known in Manchester as “The Urban Poet”, will be running another of his Guided Walks from Handforth Station, starting 10:30 on Sunday 9th October.
Organised by the Friends of Handforth Station, this walk will be a gentle stroll over an 8Km distance with plenty of stops, and will take 3 to 4 hours.
Ged has designed Sunday’s walk to start and end at Handforth Station. It will be an “Exploratory Walk” exploring the history of the area, and featuring Ged’s poems and some stories about the area, to which all are welcome to contribute.

The pictures comprising the FoHS Art Trail through Handforth have now been returned to the local Community Rail Partnership. However, in case some people filled in a competition entry form but haven’t yet handed it in due to National Mourning, we have extended the closing date.
You can hand in your entry form (it doesn’t have to be fully completed !) at the Station or the Library – or just take a photo and e-mail it to handforthstation@gmail.com – before 23:59 on Friday 23rd September.
